The North Costa Blanca Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) was established on 22nd June 2004 and is currently the second most junior Branch of the Association. An initial exploratory meeting, held in May 2004 to determine the feasibility and support for the formation of a Branch, was quickly followed by a second meeting, held in early June, which confirmed sufficient local interest. An application was subsequently submitted to the RAFA Central Council who approved the official formation of the Branch.
In 2006 the Spanish authorities granted us charitable status. We are now a Registered Charity, No: G54089214
Membership continues to grow steadily and currently stands at over 130. Although based in the Javea area we draw our membership from as far north as Valencia and as far south as Alicante.
Meetings are regularly held at lunchtime on the second Monday of every month at Restaurant Los Arcos near Pedreguer. The Branch has a very active committee and a full social programme Click here is organized which maintains the interest of all our members.
The Branch magazine,The North Costa Blanca Flyer, was first produced in December 2004, and is issued quarterly. It is always well-received and generates a great deal of interest from both RAFA members and non-members. Past copies can be read on-line by selecting "Newsletters" from the Menu.
The RAF Association's motto is Friendship, Help and Support. Therefore one of our main aims is, when necessary, to provide help and support to serving RAF, ex RAF, other British and Commonwealth Air Forces and their dependents living here in our part of Spain, and as a consequence, we have established a very active welfare team. There is no need to be member of the RAF Association to receive the benefit of our help, only to have served in these Air Forces or be a dependent of someone who has served. Therefore, if you or anyone you know might be in need of our support then please contact our Welfare Officer on 634345444.
